Hydraulics Engineer
Sixteen propulsion cylinders, six steering cylinders and a cutting-head drive all run off one hydraulic system. You will design that circuit, size its components and make it behave predictably under load.
About the role
Hydraulics is where the machine’s force actually comes from. 200 kN of propulsion, six degrees of steering freedom and a 9.5 kNm cutting head all trace back to decisions made in this role.
You will work closely with both the mechanical and the controls side, since a steering loop is only as good as the valve responding to it.
What you will do
- Design and document the hydraulic schematic for the complete machine
- Size pumps, valves, accumulators and lines against the duty cycle
- Specify and integrate the hydraulic power unit at the launch area
- Commission the system and diagnose faults during testing
- Define maintenance and safety procedures for high-pressure operation
What you bring
- Studying mechanical engineering or mechatronics
- Foundation in fluid power — coursework or practical experience both count
- Methodical approach to commissioning and fault-finding
- Respect for the failure modes of high-pressure systems
How to apply
Send your CV and a short note about which part of the machine interests you. No motivation letter required — we reply to everyone.
