Electrical Engineer
Everything on the machine needs power, and every sensor needs a path back to the surface. You will design the electrical architecture that makes that work reliably in wet, dirty, high-vibration conditions where nobody can reach the hardware to reset it.
About the role
You will own real hardware. The boards you design get manufactured, populated, installed in the machine and taken to Texas. There is no simulation layer between your decisions and whether the machine runs.
Previous team members have used this role as the practical counterpart to their electrical engineering coursework — it is the part where the theory has to survive contact with mud.
What you will do
- Design power distribution from the surface generator to the machine head
- Develop and lay out custom PCBs for sensing, actuation and communication
- Specify cabling, connectors and sealing for an underground, high-vibration environment
- Build and test wiring harnesses and integrate them into the machine
- Debug electrical faults during assembly and test campaigns
What you bring
- Studying electrical engineering, mechatronics or a related discipline
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, KiCad or similar)
- Hands-on comfort with a soldering iron, an oscilloscope and a multimeter
- Interest in industrial-grade, ruggedised electronics
How to apply
Send your CV and a short note about which part of the machine interests you. No motivation letter required — we reply to everyone.
