Responsible for Graphic Design and Branding at Swissloop Tunneling

 

Overview

As a corporate designer, you will be responsible for the corporate identity within and outside the Swissloop Tunneling team. You will develop design concepts and pipelines to improve the team’s assets and curate the team’s templates to ensure the correct form for documentation. Furthermore, you will cooperate tightly with the rest of the team to understand project requirements and needs throughout the season.

The following requirements outline the optimal parameters we seek for this position. However, all of them can be learned or extended throughout your experience within the team. We encourage you to submit your application even if you don’t meet all the criteria. Your reliability, commitment, and passion for innovation are the most valuable traits we look for.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creating and curating the team’s corporate design and identity
  • Identifying the team’s needs and requirements (i.e., templates, documentation)
  • Developing a brand book with all design details (i.e., color coding, ratios, standard graphics)
  • Creating innovative design assets (i.e., sponsoring banners, flags, team clothing)
  • Reviewing and monitoring the team’s design language and formality
  • Attend weekly team meetings, eventual working sessions, and the association’s public events
  • Actively contribute to building the association’s culture

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Attention to detail
  • Aptitude and self-initiative for rapid decision-making and problem-solving
  • Knowledgable with (industrial) design concepts
  • Motivated graphic designer (either professionally/academically or as a hobbyist)
  • Experienced with the Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop and Indesign
  • Fluency in English and German (written and spoken)

Workload

The expected workload is estimated to be around 6-8 hours per week, with approximately one or two hours dedicated to meetings and the rest to individual or group work. Apart from the fixed weekly team meeting, you will be able to completely dispose of the remaining time at your discretion (while respecting deadlines). While preparing for the competition, the workload may increase over a short period of time.

Workplaces

We provide an office and workplace in Zürich at ETH’s Student Project House (SPH) and EMPA in Dübendorf. From day one, you can work independently and take responsibility for your duties and deliverables. Since the team’s meetings are mostly online, you will be able to work remotely on your tasks, utilizing necessary resources from other team members independently. However, certain events like the general assembly or sponsoring events require your physical attendance.
